A new textbook in variational methods
Some months ago I could read a draft copy of a book written by profs. Marino Badiale and Enrico Serra. The book is now ready for order: its title is Semilinear Elliptic Equations for Beginners, and you can browse some pages on Google Books.
It's main purpose is to be a useful tool for instructors of (elliptic) PDEs, variational methods, nonlinear analysis. It is based on the courses given by the authors in the past years, and the audience ranges from undergraduate students to Ph.D. students.
The difficulty level is lower than that of Michael Struwe's book on variational methods, and the style is more elaborate than in the beautiful but rather cryptic book by Michel Willem on minimax theorems.
I have just borrowed from my library the book, and it looks quite promising.
